Common questions

Which calculator do I use to work out my gold lot size?

Use the position size calculator. It takes your account balance, the risk you are willing to take and your stop distance in pips, then returns a lot size for XAU/USD where one standard lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01. It answers how big the trade should be, not whether to take it.

What is the difference between the pip value and profit calculators?

The pip value calculator tells you what one pip is worth at a given lot size, which for gold depends on the 100 oz contract and the 0.01 pip step. The profit calculator takes that further and converts a full price move, entry to exit, into money. Use pip value for stop sizing and profit for outcome.

How do I check the margin a gold trade will tie up before I open it?

Use the margin calculator: enter lot size, the XAU/USD price and the leverage on your account. At 1:200 via the offshore entity, a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50, but leverage caps for Nigeria are not settled, with one review citing 1:30 or 1:20. Confirm your account's figure first.

Can the pivot points tool tell me where to place a stop loss?

It can show where pivot levels sit for the session, which some traders use as reference points for stops and targets, but it does not choose a stop for you. A stop should reflect your risk per trade and the volatility of XAU/USD, then be tested in the position size calculator for affordability.

Do the calculators convert my results into naira?

They work in the currency of your account, usually USD for XAU/USD, so a naira figure needs your own conversion at the rate you actually get. If you fund by local bank transfer or card, the broker applies its own exchange rate, which will not match a headline rate you see elsewhere.
